MATT NIGRO 

TRAINER

Matt attended Manhattanville College where he played four years of Division III baseball as a closer for the Valiants. Matt wonall Skyline Conference honors in his Freshman year. He pitched to a 3.60 ERA in 25 innings, while striking out 23 and holding opponents to a .213 batting average which helped the Valiants earn the Skyline Conference Championship and a bid to a NCAA Regional Tournament. Matt's success continued into his Sophomore year where he pitched to a 1.89 ERA over 19 innings, while earning a team high four saves.

 

Matt currently holds the school record for saves ( 9 career) and is 3rd on the list in appearances (42).

 

Unfortunately, Matt's Junior a& Senior years were both plagued by injury, where he underwent Tommy John surgery in the spring of his Senior year. After taking a year off, he returned to the mound to pitch for the New Rochelle Tigers, where he garnered both All Star & "Comeback Player of the Year" honors, pitching to a 0.39 ERA in 22 innings of relief work and 25 strikeouts. Matt is currently a member of the 4-Time Champion Kensico Mudhens in the HRBL.
