If you’re even halfway serious about pitching at a high level, I’d say start laying the groundwork this offseason. Learn from someone who was you. He is our own Austin Pope, born and raised here in Westchester, from a local High school, who went from Fairfield U to the Big Leagues. Brett Holtz, a local Valhalla kid, has decided to get involved to help the next Generation of athletes overcome day-to-day pressure and develop the mindset needed to excel, using different tools like breathing, meditation, and positivity for preparation. This, along with  TruMedia, makes this a one-of-a-kind program.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

1. Holistic Development

Most pitching programs focus heavily on just mechanics or just velocity development. You’re proposing a true hybrid:

Physical side: Getting better on the mound

Mental/classroom side: Understanding why and how things work

That combo is exactly what creates smarter, more adaptable pitchers.

2. Empowering Pitchers to Self-Correct

By teaching the why behind mechanics, pitch movement, usage, etc., you’re giving players tools to:

Troubleshoot when something feels off

Understand what makes their stuff play

Be less coach-dependent in the long term

3. Use of MLB-Grade Tools (TruMedia)

Huge value-add. Most amateur players/coaches don’t have access to or know how to use pro-level platforms.

Using it as a teaching aid will simulate how MLB pitchers are coached, which raises the ceiling for anyone learning how to pitch/compete.

Classroom Topics:

Arm Slot & Pitch Compatibility – Most kids have no idea they’re fighting their natural arm slot with the wrong pitch mix.

Seam-Shifted Wake / Spin Metrics – This is cutting-edge info. Even D1 programs are barely touching this right now.

Mental Game + Breath Work – Often overlooked, but it’s the separator at higher levels. Having players identify whether they need to “ramp up or calm down” is elite-level awareness.

Format:

Build a Pitching Notebook for Each Player: Based on your teachings, let players track their pitch data, usage, game plans, and mental notes.

Parent/Coach Night: Teach parents/coaches what to look for in mechanics, approach, and game observation. Parents are welcome to join the weekly Zoom Calls
